Brecon Carreg CDF 10K set to be biggest ever

The 2024 Brecon Carreg CDF 10K is set to be its biggest yet with entries now sold out.

More than 7,000 runners have signed up to take part in the event in the heart of the Welsh capital on Sunday 1 September.

The race will see participants take on a brilliant sightseeing tour of Cardiff, running past iconic landmarks such as the historic Cardiff Castle and Principality Stadium.

They’ll then continue their journey through the city before crossing the River Taff and heading into the leafy suburbs of Pontcanna and the grade 2 listed parkland of Llandaff and Pontcanna Fields.

Passing through Sophia Gardens, the home of Welsh cricket, runners will then finish their race in the Edwardian Civic Centre.

Alongside the 10K there will also be a 2K event which will give budding athletes and their families the chance to absorb the race day atmosphere.

Spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer for their loved ones on what is set to be a fantastic day for the whole family.

Matt Newman, Chief Executive at Run 4 Wales, said: “The Brecon Carreg CDF 10K is set to become one of the largest 10K events in Wales.

“It’s a brilliant event with a fantastic atmosphere and is the perfect race to get involved in for those who are training for the Principality Cardiff Half too.

“With over 7,000 runners taking part this year, it will be the biggest CDF 10K yet. We’re looking forward to welcoming all our runners and spectators to Cardiff on 1 September and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this event.”
